Azhagiri accused of bribing voters
Madurai (Tamil Nadu), April 12 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's elder son M.K. Azhagiri, who is the ruling DMK party's candidate from here in the Lok Sabha polls, was Sunday accused by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) of distributing money for votes.
"We saw the distribution of tokens to women who greeted Azhagiri during his campaign and later found that Rs.100 currency notes were issued to each person who submitted the tokens to DMK workers," said R. Anna Durai, district secretary of the CPI-M.
"A formal complaint has been handed over to the Election Commission officials, citing this method of bribery," Durai added.
This temple town is situated 400 km south of state capital Chennai.
